Business innovation and organizational competitiveness in globalized environments
Main Article Content
Abstract
Business innovation has become a strategic driver of organizational competitiveness in markets characterized by technological acceleration, economic interdependence, and continuously changing consumer preferences. This study aimed to critically analyze the relationship between business innovation and organizational competitiveness in globalized environments. An exploratory, qualitative, documentary, and non-experimental literature review was conducted using publications issued between 2010 and 2025 and retrieved from Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO, Redalyc, and Google Scholar. The information was examined through thematic synthesis and narrative comparison. The findings indicate that innovation strengthens differentiation, productivity, operational efficiency, and competitive positioning when supported by dynamic capabilities, knowledge absorption, organizational learning, leadership, and cross-functional coordination. Product, business process, organizational, collaborative, and digital innovations generate differentiated effects conditioned by firm size, industry, resource availability, and the institutional environment. However, the relationship is neither linear nor universal because of potential diminishing returns, reverse causality, and methodological heterogeneity. It is concluded that innovation enhances competitiveness when it is aligned with organizational strategy, internal capabilities, and effective mechanisms for value appropriation.
