Artificial intelligence and process automation in corporate digital transformation

Abstract
Business digital transformation requires understanding artificial intelligence and process automation as strategic components capable of reconfiguring organizational management, decision-making, and value creation. This study aimed to analyze, through a bibliographic review, the role of these technologies in digital transformation processes, considering their strategic, operational, human, and ethical contributions. The research was developed under a qualitative approach, with an exploratory scope and documentary design, based on the review of scientific articles, academic books, previous reviews, and specialized documents preferably published between 2015 and 2025. The results show that artificial intelligence strengthens companies’ analytical, predictive, and decision-making capacity, while automation improves operational efficiency, reduces errors, optimizes workflows, and increases process traceability. However, challenges were also identified regarding data governance, resistance to change, digital skills gaps, algorithmic bias, and the need for human supervision. It is concluded that these technologies promote sustainable digital transformation when they are systemically integrated with strategy, processes, people, organizational culture, and business ethics.
